Choosing an Electric Bike Battery

There are several factors that must be considered when choosing a battery for an electric bike. Three factors form the core criteria of battery selection: power, size and cost. Battery capacity, size, cost, and charge time were probably the most important characteristics of all batteries. This article only talks about the various kinds of electric bike batteries for sale.

How to select the right kind of electric bike battery? Battery capacity is the maximum expected draw that the battery can supply to a motorized bicycle. The capacity is in kilowatts (kWh) per hour and is a measure of the total energy used in a single hour of riding. The higher the capacity, the more powerful the motor needed to propel the cyclist forward. To some people, this may seem like a very technical number, but in reality, it’s really not.

As the old adage goes, “you get what you pay for.” While higher quality brands like Panasonic do manufacture high performing electric bikes with very low energy usage, the price tag can be up to four times as much. Likewise, while most e-bikes use small internal combustion engines, the prices for these cycles can be quite high. A better alternative might be reconditioned batteries but even then, the price still isn’t as much as you’d have to pay for top of the line models.
