There are basically four groups to those varying drug abuse symptoms. These four groups of drug abuse symptoms are broadly classified according to how an individual may react to them. These four groups of drug abuse symptoms are as follows. These are:
EMOTIONS. These are the most common symptoms of drug abuse. They include such things as sadness, anger, anxiety, guilt, shame and a loss in self-esteem. This can occur with prescription opioids as well. The way an individual handles his or her emotions when an opioid is present will be different from how he or she normally handle these emotions.
SCHEDULOS. A major portion of the drug abuse symptoms of alcoholism involve mental health issues. This is so for two main reasons. First, people who have a substance abuse problem often are also suffering from mental illness and, therefore, there is a possibility that the two will conflict with one another.
OPPRESSION. An important segment of the drug abuse symptoms of alcoholism include the inability to stop using. In many cases, once an individual has become addicted, he or she simply cannot quit on his or her own. The individual’s mental illness combined with the physical dependence upon the opioids being used creates a situation in which the individual simply cannot control his or her use of the substance. Whether it is heroin, alcohol or something else, there is always some kind of a physical dependency that can come along with the addiction.
RESULTS. While many individuals do not suffer from serious symptoms related to substance abuse, they are certainly no less deadly. When an individual starts to take medication to control his or her symptoms of drug abuse, he or she may also find that the prescription medications are causing severe side effects which can lead to even more problems and possibly worse than the original condition.
ALLEVANT COPING. Even though you may be looking for signs of addiction, you are going to need some type of treatment in order to provide your loved one with relief from the symptoms and the serious damage that can occur as a result. While the individual may be able to control his or her symptoms to a certain extent, you should still provide him or her with additional help in order to prevent them from reaching a point in which he or she is unable to live his or her life to the fullest without the aid of medication.
HIV / AIDS. There are a number of substance interactions which can increase the risk of contracting HIV or AIDS. For example, the use of illicit drugs such as heroin can put an individual at much higher risk than someone who takes a prescription medication to control his or her withdrawal symptoms from heroin. Heroin is known to cause vomiting, diarrhea and constipation as well as blood in the urine. If you suspect that your loved one is suffering from heroin addiction, it would be in your best interest to take him or her to see a health professional who is familiar with heroin and the dangers associated with its abuse.
CONSTIPATION. The physical dependency, which develops over time on prescription medications can create many people physically dependent on them. This means that once an individual begins to take a specific medication, it can be very difficult for him or her to stop. This can lead to physical complications and even addiction if the individual cannot seem to overcome his or her dependency.
SEPTENNY LABS. Severe mental illnesses can be a sign symptoms of drug addiction for many individuals. If a person is dealing with manic depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or other serious mental illness, they can develop intense cravings for dangerous substances such as heroin, methamphetamine, crack-cocaine, alcohol or cocaine. If you suspect your loved one may be dealing with a severe mental illness and is abusing prescription medications, it would be in your best interest to take the individual to a licensed drug treatment facility where professionals can monitor his or her progress and provide additional assistance should problems arise down the road.
ADULT SUCCESS. It’s important to remember that all drug addiction treatment plans are not created equal. Many programs which claim to offer long term solutions to treat patients only for symptoms. Patients receive professional counseling and sometimes medical help but are not offered any type of substance abuse help in order to overcome their addiction. Only through professional help can you expect to receive lasting results. Be sure to choose a program that offers both short term and long term solutions in order to receive quality service and long term results.
DEPRESSED AND EXAGGERated BEHAVIOR. If a person has become so emotionally dependent on prescription drugs that they cannot function without them, it is possible they will begin to experience mood swings and even experience depression. If a friend or loved one is continually depressed and feels guilty about using drugs, chances are they could benefit from detoxification. Many individuals become so emotionally dependent on drugs that they do not see why they should detox their body before becoming emotionally dependent on them.
