If you’re looking to become a bodyguard or guard then you should know that there are lots of things that make you feel secure. For starters, you should know that you have the responsibility to protect those that you love and if you do not feel that you can do that then you shouldn’t bother, hire close protection or any kind of personal security agent for that matter. What I’m saying is that you should never feel inadequate because if you do feel that way you shouldn’t be there! There’s a big difference between feeling inadequate and actually feeling insecure and I would submit to you that the latter is much more common and believable than the former.
You must remember that it’s your duty to ensure the safety of the client and this means that you need to be very focused and methodical in what you do. Also, keep in mind that a security agent needs to have a wide knowledge of the local law so that he/she knows when to deploy and when not to. Remember, we live in a society where crime is on the rise and it’s your duty to be proactive and look out for the welfare of those around you. Don’t be a passive viewer; be a leader and protect the innocent and the guilty! This is what separates good security agents from bad ones and that is something that you should always bear in mind.
Also, remember that a bodyguard is not just about protection. It’s also about confidence and assertiveness. If a person feels that they are being protected properly and knows they’re capable of doing a good job then they will feel much more confident. That confidence means that they will not be afraid to take a risk and they will be able to go head-to-head with any criminal that comes their way. This is something that will stand you in good stead for life!
